Neck Pain

I’m Dr. Steven Battaglino with Battaglino Chiropractic and today I want to talk about neck pain and chiropractic. Chiropractic is really good at getting neck pain and let’s talk about how it works.

Let’s first talk about what’s causing the neck pain. This is the neck. This is the front of the neck or the throat area where you can see different bones here called the vertebrae. There’s a tiny little disk separating each of the bones which acts like little shock absorbers and we can see nerves coming out of the side of the spine at each level. When things get out of place, whether they’re out of place from side to side or whether this curvature from the side view gets distorted, it puts pressure on these nerves and it causes pain. It’s the nerves that are getting compressed plus the muscles that react by going into spasm to protect the area that all causes that pain.

A qualified chiropractor can restore proper alignment and take pressure of those nerves with a gentle specific correction called an adjustment and essentially it relieves pressure on these nerves, the muscles start to relax, and the pain goes away.

It’s a much more effective approach to find out what’s causing the actual pain and remove that cause instead of just covering it up with injection therapy or painkillers or something like that. So if you have any neck pain, call a qualified chiropractor today and get your neck checked.
